“Consider the possibility there is a divine knowing available to us, and all that is required on our part is being open to its presence.
“These 22 stories, though unique in their settings, speak to this presence of knowing there is more. A knowing that brought one woman to trust again … a knowing that guided a woman to protect her children from those who appeared loving and safe … a knowing to take a class that later saved a life.
“It is my belief that the more attention we give to this knowing energy around us, the more we will feel the abundance of life and be less likely to think, ‘is this all there is?’ ”
This is how Carol describes her book on the dust jacket. This book is that, and more. These aren’t just stories about how spirit has helped or guided in a situation. These are stories where the individual rose to the challenge–accepted that they were not alone, and could therefore accomplish great feats or deeper insight.
What made this book especially meaningful to me, as I read it during the recent Alumni Gathering was, those very people were here with me now–including Carol. Most of the stories are from the Class of 2008. Sitting quiet and unassuming, these women are heroes to me as I read how they opened to the unknown and allowed a larger power to move through them. This same power is what brought 30 of the 64 classmates of the Class of 2008 together for this Alumni weekend.
Canadian-born Carol Hibbert grew up in Chicago and splits her time between New Mexico and Connecticut. She knew at the age of ten there was more happening around her that expanded beyond her five senses. She tells these stories to inspire others to bring forth experiences deep within them, warming our hearts, bringing excitement to the moment, and enlarging the connectedness we all have to one another.
