You Took a Reiki Class, Now What?
The Secret to Radical Healing With Reiki
by Nicole Terreri

Yes, this book is about Reiki. It is also about Nicole Terreri, a student at BBSH who just graduated second year. A natural empath and healer, Nicole grew up in a Reiki household and learned how to “take care of others”. Although this common healer co-dependency fostered feelings of betrayal and depression, she found that Reiki itself never let her down.

Nicole asks us first to look at what’s next—after the class, after a little bit of knowledge or insight. How do we face our challenges and increase our confidence to heal ourselves? She emphasizes the importance of practice and reflection, and when that isn’t enough she asks that we look for support and community.

“Community is key in healing, in being supported, and in being nourished and loved. Also, in community, we find opportunity for continued growth and development.”

Nicole stresses the importance of being open to everything, and honoring your individual path. Her path has led to Reiki over and over again. She believes in its healing power—as one that can create great shifts in the energy of the world. This book is her way to help “move the world forward through education and open-hearted vulnerability”.

The history, process and basics of learning Reiki are covered, along with the fundamentals of the energy body and chakras. Intentionality is what sets Reiki apart, writes Nicole, surrendering and then stepping out of the way. Although this may sound simple, it takes years of practice. Self-healings are a great place to start staying present with yourself, building your skill and strengthening your energy body. This gives rise to working with guidance—releasing yourself from your own story to be present to the true intention of Reiki—evolving growth and healing along the design of the Universe.

Other habits to practice include spiritual health: “What practices support your energetic container, as that is the container of your soul and the road in which we learn to connect with Source?” Physical health is just as important: “Knowing your own body allows you a better chance of clearly deciphering the origin of the pain, emotion, or physical fatigue.”

After an overview of Reiki symbols, attunement, distance healing and situational healing, past lives and other modalities, Nicole asks if it is time for a professional practice. Exploring other supportive programs such as which diet and exercise, yoga and/or meditation, what ever interest you will help increase your sense of community and opportunity for clients.

Finally, touching on religion, spirituality, boundaries and intention, Nicole speaks of surrender, imperfection, betrayal, and addiction and how it all works together. “Where are you in your personal growth and development? What is happening in your life? Am I trusting my guidance? Am I living my life to the best of my abilities? Your job is to be present with it all, aware of what you have to offer, and lead with a heart of service for unconditional love and in surrender to divine will.
