Dear friends,
I had the amazing good fortune to be able to go to Class 5 at BBSH to talk with the new grads about our Alumni Association. I also spoke with many of the teachers and the returning grads who had come for the Advanced Healers Workshop. Needless to say we got a number of new members!
While there, I went to the year-end class ceremonies. Year One’s ceremony was simple and beautiful–quite clear for the result of one year at Brennan. I was impressed with Year Two as well. They represented the angst of mask, image, lower self, defense and wound quite profoundly, all while wearing tee shirts that boasted 100% Divine.
It was Year Three that really hit home though. They shared a self-honoring ceremony. Each person picked a piece of paper out of a crystal bowl. Then, after explaining that it was the fern that was closest to evolutionary perfection, since it has remained unchanged for 100 million years, they crowned each other with handmade fern circlets. The surprise was that as an individual called out “I invite in Divine Mystery, Love, Illumination, Sexuality, Purity etc.” no one knew who had received that epitaph. As the holder of that paper stepped forward, the whole class would oh, ah and exclaim, since spirit was indeed choosing the correct person for the title.
The fact that they shared this ceremony with the rest of the school was, for me, a perfect example of the evolution BBSH invites–claiming their power as an individual, honoring it as a class, and holding space for it in the larger template of the school. Being there representing the alumni I felt the strength of this amazing program expand even further. This is the spirit and focus I want to encourage us all to participate in, for we are able to benefit from each other’s transformation and continue to spread it out to the world.
