November 2018 – By Randall Segal
I started writing this on the eve of the Mid-term elections and then decided to wait till they were over when I thought would know what I wanted to say. My thought was wait till Wednesday… well now it is Thursday the week after, there are still elections that are undecided, and I am still unsure of what to say.
This brings to my mind a few big questions for me…
What to say when we don’t know what we want to say or how we feel?
How do we sit in the unknown and just wait for the next inspiration to come to, so we know the next move?
Do we just make a choice blindly and hope for the best or do we wait?
If you are like me the waiting feels as if I am being lazy. My super ego jumps right in there saying you need to be doing SOMETHING! This waiting is a chore for me it is not joyous. It doesn’t feel safe. The unknown is ironically unknowable and that is frustrating. Yet in this moment I’m waiting.
I am finding it interesting to contemplate the line between waiting for the next step to arise, allowing spirit to unfold in its way and where action is needed. A fear comes up for me that asks, ‘What if the action is the wrong action?’ But what if that action is the next step presented by spirit?
Where is it that I choose to trust the impulses in my life and to deny them?
There are many questions arising. There are few clear answers. But it feels as if you just make a choice and go until you come to another choice point and make another all the sudden something has been created. It might not be the best thing in your life but at least it a new place to step forward from.
So I think this is what I am wanting to say in this moment.
